Extended Reality in Employee Training

Lisa Renz I Master Thesis

Siemens Mobility GmbH I Hochschule Magedeburg-Stendal
Erstprüferin Prof. Steffi Hußlein, Zweitprüferin Lisa-Marie Falkner

This master’s thesis explores the integration of extended reality (XR) into corporate training to enhance the employee learning experience. Although XR offers significant learning benefits, many companies struggle to adopt such technologies in existing programs. Based on an analysis of XR and learning in corporate contexts, a training concept was developed using the example of a basic course for a point machine. The outcome includes both a non-immersive screen-based and an immersive VR application. In user studies with Siemens Mobility GmbH employees, both versions were evaluated for usability and learning impact. Results show that immersive training positively influences the learning experience and provide initial recommendations for implementing XR in corporate training. Keywords: master thesis, extended reality, corporate training, virtual training, point machine, learning experience
